GOOD NEWS FOR BRITISH CAR MANUFACTURERS - Date: 2011-01-21
Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) yesterday indicate that the production of cars, engines and commercial vehicles leaped forward last year, providing a much needed tonic for the British motor industry and manufacturing in general. Year on year figures demonstrated a 27.1 per cent rise in the number of cars built, with 1.27million rolling off the production lines and an even bigger rise, of 35.7 per cent, in the production of commercial vehicles.

Peugeot adding new dealers to plug-in network - Date: 2011-01-20
French car giant Peugeot is preparing to add 22 new dealerships to its list of “plug-in places” where electric car owners can top up their batteries around the UK.
Peugeot describes its latest green car initiative as being a response to mounting support for electronic car ownership within the media, the government and the public at large.
Financial incentives aimed at encouraging environmentally-friendly car driving have been introduced by the government recently, partly by way of the 'Plug-In Car Grant', which gives UK consumers £5,000 towards their next electronic car purchase.
